I'm almost certain I remember my friend Kelly writing about her baby closet or it might have been her mom, I just can't remember and I didn't take the time to go back and re-read. Nonetheless I think I'm taking this idea from them......
Last week I was at a store to buy a plant and card for a lady who's husband passed away. While I was there, I saw an OU camouflage onesie. My very first thought as usual was "I wish I was carrying a baby in my arms wearing that." Then my next thought was "I guess I could buy that for Eric's baby." Then my next thought was "Why can't I buy that now for my own baby I will adopt some day?" Then (a lot of Then's sorry) I remembered Kelly/her mom writing about a baby closet and I contemplated buying the outfit and starting my own "Baby Closet." I debated and then left without it. I thought about it for days and if I should do something like that. I thought about it over the weekend and kept coming back to the idea that I think it would help me to know I could buy things for our child instead of always feeling the pain of buying for others. I like to buy for others and give but sometimes I just want it for myself. It would make the fact that we will have a child someday more real and more believable. I didn't even tell Bryan about it. I did tell my mother-in-law and I think she was on board. I'm not going to go crazy and buy something every week and maybe not every month. But when I see something I would cherish, then I may just buy it. So, yesterday I left work quickly and bought this.....
I LOVE it!!! My first item in my baby closet!!! I couldn't decide what size to buy 6 months, 12 months, or 18 months. I really really really x 100 want an infant but if we go through the state of OK we may have to expand to 10-12 months. 12 months would be the oldest I would want to adopt. So, I settled for 18 months to be safe. I wanted to make sure I can use it. I know it is camo but I also had visions of a sweet little baby girl wearing a lace head band with a camo bow and jeans on!!!! Call me crazy. But I just think it would look cute!!
A couple weeks ago I took a few dollars from my "play savings account" and did a little shopping at Crackle Barrel. I saw this when we took my Uncle and his family there after the baby shower. So I went back a week later and bought it.
I'm having a hard time finding a candle to go in it. There is a little lump in the center that causes the one candle I had at home to tilt. I don't think I want to melt the wax because at Christmas time I want to put decorative balls in it.
After I bought the onesie, I went here.....
My new friend sent me a Starbucks coupon that had been in the newspaper. It's for a $2 cold drink after 2 p.m. We had discussed it at our scrapbook night and a few weeks ago she mailed me the one that was in her paper!!! Thank you Guyla!!!! I finally got to use it for the first time yesterday and got my favorite drink......
Green Tea Frap. The neat thing....I get to use the card numerous times until September and save $$$$ !!!!!
Anyway, just some randomness. But I was excited about my "Baby Closet" I hope Kelly you don't mind me taking the idea.

Julie, I think the onesie is precious, and it will look adorable on your baby! God will bring you the perfect child, and you will be a fantastic mother.
I also like the candle holder, and I love Starbucks. I love the strawberries and creme frap from there!!
Julie,
I think the baby's closet is a great idea. And you can just add to it when you see something that REALLY catches your eye! (Or a sale you can't pass up! There are so many little clothes that would go for either a girl or boy. I think of little overalls....love a boy or a girl in them!
You look so cute with your Starbucks! Love to shop at C.Barrel! They always have the cutest stuff and not too expensive!
BTW,since you asked, I got my bedding at Kohl's.
Blessings!
Julie,
I LOVE the idea of a baby closet!!! How wonderful to start planning for the sweet, precious baby that you and Bryan will be the BEST parents for! :)
A baby closet is a great idea. I had to go through fertility treatments with my first child. We were fearful that we would never have a baby together & my baby closet always made me feel better. As a side note my "fertility issue" somehow healed itself 4 years after number one & I was really suprised to find myself with number 2. So take heart & go ahead with the closet. Someday you will have so much fun getting to use them on your little one.
I so think you should have the baby closet....i think it is a tangible reminder of your faith that God is and will provide precious children for you and your family!!!!!! I have never lived on "hold" because I was not married......you know what i mean...not buy things till you "both" pick it out or register..blah blah blah....I prefer being wise and collecting ideams along the way so it is less overwhelming!!!!!! SO girl, if you see something babyish that is to die for...GET IT!!!!!! You will get to use it soon enough!!!! love you!
Hi Julie,
I have seen you on many of the blogs that I visit frequently and just wanted to pop over and say hi. That is the most adorable onesie and I'm so glad you stepped out in faith and bought it!! A baby closet is such a neat idea.
Nice to meet you :0)
Dawn
Julie, I think it is great to have a baby closet. Your little baby is coming soon!
I loved the idea, Julie! Be strong in your faith.
Hugs,
Laura
Julie - this post THRILLED me! YES - I have had a secret baby closet for about the last 2 years. Little by little I've bought things and put in there and displayed them and every few weeks - I would go stand in there and just stare at it. I even showed a few friends who I knew wouldn't think I was crazy (or would still love me even if they though I was crazy).
I think I had the idea of "If I build it - It will come". It was a little place of hope that one day we would have a baby that could use the things in there and one day (hopefully soon) you are going to have a precious baby to wear that onesie. Think of it as a "Hope closet". You want to give up if you go in and peek at your closet from time to time!
That should have said "You WON'T want to give up..............."
That little "camo" outfit is too cute! I think the baby's closet is such a sweet idea. What a beautiful outward expression of your faith and trust in God to provide you with your very own child in His perfect timing!
That outfit is adorable! I think it is a wonderful idea to have a baby closet.
Thank you so much for your prayers as my baby goes to school tomorrow. I need all the help I can get.
I love the candle holder. Oh and I LOVE, LOVE Starbucks!! I wish there was one in Duncan.
Julie, I think that the baby closet is an awesome idea. How great that you can start preparing and experiencing little joys on the journey toward adding a wonderful little one to your family.
You are so sweet and encourage me each time I think of you.
Love the candle holder...it is so pretty. I did check to see if the movie was there and it is not. So, I don't know..... What is going on with Granny and her having surgery?
The onesie is adorable. And the baby closet is a great idea! I see things all the time that I love and want to buy, but I'm done with kids, so I don't think it would be wise for me to start one. And I pray that one day, you will have your own little one to love one. You will be a great mommy to a child who desperately needs one.
I love the idea of a baby closet. Fun!!
I'm glad you are enjoying the Starbucks coupon. :)
Julie- I am a DIEHARD OSU Cowboys fan (I'm an alum) and (no offense!) I HATE THOSE SOONERS!!!! BUT.....I have to say that is a totally cute and precious onesie and even more precious heart of yours- and I totally am on board for your baby closet! I loved hearing your heart on this and can relate to an extent....This gesture of faith will be honored....I am praying for it and believing it! I pray for you by name every day for your baby!
Have a great day!
P.S. My parents live in North OKC-right by Frontier City-and I grew up in Edmond, and we went to the Ted's there!!! Had NO idea you were so close....next time we go, we'll have to e-mail and meet up!
I think it's a great idea. I have a few things that I've picked up along the way. It's nice to take a peak at them every now and then. The Green Frap looks yummy-I'm going to have to try one.
Julie, I love the onsie and love that you stepped out in faith and bought it...that is faith in action. God is going to bless you tremendously and there will be a precious little one, in your arms, wearing that onsie one day soon! Praying for you!!!
That little onesie is soo cute! And cute candle holder. I am currently in decoration mode and I love that candle holder - and the idea of putting Christmas decorations in it! How cute!
You are so sweet Julie! I think the baby closet is a fabulous idea ;)! God will bless you with the perfect child who will love camouflage and OK :)!
