What is Fashion?

Update on jean fiasco: After I blogged today, look what was on the MSN home page:
If this had been on there yesterday, I wouldn't have had the trauma!!!!! Love you gals!!

As I mentioned, yesterday was Kayla's 15th birthday!!! Happy Birthday, Kayla!! She had requested the movie Jumanji and I couldn't find it in stores so we ordered it from Amazon. I printed off the order to give to her but I also wanted her to have something to open. When I last checked one of her favorite stores is Aeropostale. So I left work a little early, changed clothes, and hit the mall. To my delight, their t-shirts (might I add thin to the description) were on sale. I picked one out for Kayla remembering her saying 1 1/2 years ago that as long as it had the emblem, you were cool!!!! Is she a teenager or what!! I made sure I got a size larger than what she normally wears so the t-shirt wouldn't be too tight!!!! The shirts looked tinsy tiny!!! Then I noticed their jeans were $20 off. So, I picked her up a pair. I spent way more than I intended but I loved getting her an entire outfit and the movie from Amazon was dirt cheap. She's a sweet girl and I love giving to my nieces and nephews. The next picture is Kayla and her "friend" Cody!! He is a sweet and polite boy.

I HATE BUYING JEANS for myself!!! It is usually a long ordeal. I like my jeans to fit just right, not too tight in the buttocks and not too tight on the thighs, and not too much of a flare but not too skinny on the ankles because that just enhances my lymphedema leg!!!! If I find a jean that fits my behind, then they gap in the waist. If they fit the waist, they are skin tight and go places jeans don't need to go!!! Crazy, I know!!! I had been thinking about getting another pair of jeans. I only have one pair that I wear the majority of time and I thought another pair would be handy during football season and winter. Plus, I'm leading a small group discussion at the youth girls retreat this Friday and I wanted to look cool!!! Soooooo, I proceeded to try on jeans at Aeropostale. Bad, bad, bad decision!!!! I wasn't sure if I should be mad, depressed, frustrated, or just sit down and laugh. I tried on 3 different styles in 3 different sizes!!! I thought one pair was okay but then I proceeded to walk through the store with them on and realized the waist was hitting me in the middle of my behind as I walked. My shirt covered it but I could feel a draft!!!!!!! I just bought Kayla's jeans and shirt and left and told the clerk maybe some other time, NOT!!!! I just can't get use to some of the newer fashions and some of them are so uncomfortable!!!

My jeans I wear now are from the Gap and they are the Long and Lean. After my experience yesterday in the teeny bopper store I don't feel so lean!!!!!! But thankfully my Gaps fit me fine.
I usually buy jeans every 3-4 years. Had I purchased jeans yesterday, it would have been an exception. Because I rarely buys jeans, I don't mind a little expense as long as they are known to last.

WHAT JEANS TO DO WEAR? WHERE DO YOU GET THEM?

Express!! They have the best jeans and they last forever! And sometimes they have sales where you buy one you get one 50% off.
I like Charlotte Russe jeans a lot but they aren't very durable.
Although...jeans shoppping is never very fun! :-)

That post made me laugh! I know exactly what you mean! I tried jeans on their while shopping for my nephew and WHEW... what a mistake! I will stick to my regular jeans. I really have enjoyed my Seven jeans, but I am short with a big booty and they fit me well.. so once I find something that does not make me look even bigger on the backside... I stick around! :) Thanks for sharing! I was just popping in from Leigh Ann's blog.. I am a friend of hers!

I absolutely love the "long and lean" jeans from gap! They are my favorite! You did really well picking out clothes for a teenage girl. The thought just scares me, I would not know which store to shop at, what is cool or not cool!!!!!
I think I will stick to the western store for the boys, cinch jeans and cowboys shirts for now!
Praying for ya.

I hate hate hate jeans shopping! I just did it- I threw in the towel and bought some from a nice boutique in our downtown...they fit pretty well but I had to have them hemmed! (I am short!) Right after that, though, I found some really cute (much cheaper!) jeans at Steinmart and Kohl's. So now I am SET for jeans, hopefully for years!!!
OH- and I tagged you for something fun on my blog!

You are funny...the draft! Jeans are a hard thing to find. I would stick with your Gap jeans, we'll all think you are cool!

Thanks for praying for Hayden, it means alot.

I hate shopping for jeans!! I usually get mine at JCPennys. I have a problem finding some that fit me in the hips. Although I have had two children I have no hips. I still have to get my jeans in the junior section. I am glad you posted this because now I can see where everyone else gets their jeans and try there also!

I hate to jeans shop, too, and I only by a pair every other year. Last year, I bought a pair from Buckle and I love them!! The are my favorite pair. I'm not sure what kind/style they are, but I know they are not the Lucky Brand. They sit on the waist and have the slight flare leg. No drafts!! (Thank goodness!)

Can I just say, they don't make jeans for hippy girls!! They're too big in the waist and too small in the booty. But I generally find that Kohl's is a good place for me to buy jeans. But I'm so glad I'm not the only one with jeanphobia
:0) I DON'T LIKE BUYING JEANS -- just saying :)

Thanks so much for stopping over -- can't wait to get to know you more!! Have a GREAT evening, Dawn

Jeans shopping is my least favorite thing! I can never find any that fit me right either. I have one pair of Old Navy ones that I have worn to death, and when I went to try to replace them last year, all the styles were so different and did not fit me well at all. I even decided to go to the Lucky store and I was willing to pay whatever it took to find a great pair, but everything was SO tight and low, I just could not handle it!

Since I never found anything last fall, I've got to look again....ugh!!! If you find some great ones, let us know!

I feel your pain about jean shopping. I literally have bought a car faster than I can select a pair of jeans! I actually need some new jeans right now, but am not willing to devote the time and effort (and $$) to go find some. I just keep wearing my old standbys!

I love Seven jeans. I also bought some new ones at Dillard's last year for my birthday and I love them, but can't recall what brand they are. Dillard's is normally where I do my jeans shopping!

Oh my word! Shopping for jeans puts me in THE worst mood ever! I have always had a hard time finding them long enough. I am so thankful most places are coming out with long lengths. I'm having a panic attack now just thinking that I'll be trying on jeans in the next little bit getting ready for fall. Oh dear!

I just dont even wear them. Too much trouble trying to find the right ones to fit my unfit body.
Glad you have the Gap jeans that you like.

Linda

I'm the same way! I never find any that fit just perfect. You'll laugh, but I just found some that I like at Bass Pro Shop. Plus they were only $20!!

I will be up there when the baby is born. I want to make sure we don't take up too much of Eric and Whitney's time together, so I am a little nervous abut being with the whole family those few days. My grandma is flying into OKC on the 4th, but I believe we are going home that night. So, to answer your question, Yes, I will see you in a couple of weeks, but I am not sure of the length of the visit. I miss ya! I need to call you in the evenings sometime so we can catch up. I love reading about you and your life on your blog...you're so good at blogging.

Oh, girl, you are too funny! Although, I am neither long nor lean, I do like Gap jeans. I also like to buy jeans at New York and Company. Good luck on your jean hunt!

What a cute post. :) I have almost all hand-me-downs and they are all different brands. (My sister's friend, who is my size, gives me all her clothes every other year, because she gets a new wardrobe that often- yea for me!)

I LOVE Gap jeans!! They always fit me so great and they have lots of varieties to pick from!!

Don't worry...those teeny bopper store sizes are all messed up. I never fit in the size I should!!

Julie, I loved this post! You are so funny. And I was so glad to know that I'm not the only one who has a horrible time trying to find jeans. I'm going to have to try those Gap jeans!

I LOVE GAP JEANS TOO!

I am with you though...buying jeans is not my favorite thing to do!

I love spoiling my nieces and nephews, too.

I, too, HATE shopping for jeans...and swimsuits...but that's a whole other issue ;-)

I also like the long and lean jeans from the Gap even though I am anything but long and lean. I also frequent Old Navy for jeans.
