Washington DC Bound (Hopefully!!!)

I'm so excited I can hardly think straight!!!! There is a 90% chance Bryan and I will be going to Washington DC July 1 - July 7!!!! I hope I haven't jinks us by already mentioning the possibility!!!! ha ha ha I'm so excited at the possibility of being in our nation's capital during Independence Day!!!! I was in DC in 1995!!! And I know a lot has changed! I cannot wait!!! I'm working on finding our flights now. We are flying to Baltimore since my cousin Eric will be at an army base near Baltimore. We plan on seeing him as much as possible but we also want to really see DC and the sights around there. His wife and step-daughter are also going so we should all have a great time and make lots of wonderful memories.

I want to hear from you. Have you been to DC? Do you have suggestions on what to see or what not to see? Any thoughts on means of transportation?

I went to DC on the 4th when I was 6 and it is still the best holiday I've ever experienced! The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, and I think it's because of the experience I had when I was younger...nothing beats being there on that day!
How exciting!

That is so funny--my family is planning to be there on July 4th, too!!

I have been several times. I love the Smithsonian museum because it has all the ball gowns of the president's wives and tons of historical stuff that is more about everyday living in days gone by!

I love the monuments at night. Just beautiful!! And, the Viet Nam memorial was really moving to me I guess because my dad was there!

You are going to LOVE IT!!!

We were there years ago when my kids were little. We actually stayed with relatives who lived in Virginia and they drove us around.
We were there on the 4th too and we saw the most beautiful fire works show I've ever seen.
I'll never forget that night!
My favorite memory of that whole trip was on the 4th. It was early evening on the 4th and it was getting very crowded as people were arriving to watch the fireworks. We walked to the Vietnam Wall and although it was so crowded with people, it was silent there while people looked at the wall. Everyone was so reverant. It made my eyes water and gave me chills.
You will enjoy it very much.

I LOVE D.C.!! In addition to the sights in D.C., you can zip down to Williamsburg and see the colonial sites. And, like Caroline said, Mount Vernon is right there, too. I will pray you get to go. You will have so much fun!!!

And, before I forget, thank you so much for your prayers. I appreciate them so much!!
